GRIVOIS, Joan L., 63, PRESQUE ISLE, at Boston, December 22, 2013. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 18, at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Joan L. Grivois, 63, passed away after a brief illness at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Mass., on December 22, 2013. She was born January 25, 1950, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Joseph O’Neal and Marie Albertine (Cyr) Grivois.
She was a 1968 graduate of Presque Isle High School and had gone to Cosmopolitan School, had previously owned and operated her own beautician shop. Had been a member of the Daughters of Isabella at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed doing crafts, making jewelry and sewing.
She will be sadly missed by her surviving family, her son, Abram and his fiancé, Heather; daughter, Lydia and her unborn grandchild of Westbrook; five sisters, Verna O’Connell of Belfast, Jean Crotto of Palm Coast, FL, Nita Therriault of Presque Isle, Sharon Swiek of Winthrop and Tina Grivois of Winterport; a brother, Nelson Grivois of Stafford Springs, CT; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father and mother, Joseph and Albertine Grivois; infant sister, Kay Frances; a brother, Gary D. Grivois; brothers-in-law, Gerald “Jeb” Therriault, Francis Crotto and Stanley Swiek.
Friends and family may visit 9:30 – 10 a.m., Saturday, January 18, at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. with Father Ray Morency presiding. There will be a reception for family and friends at the K. C. Hall following the mass. Interment will take place at a later date in the spring.
