The Houlton Recreation Department will be offering the following programs to youth and adults. To register for a program, call the rec center office at 532-1310.
Adult piñata making class:
The Houlton Recreation Department will be offering an adult piñata making class. Paula Dahlk of Mainely Piñata’s will be the instructor. The two-week course will be held each Monday, Jan. 20 and Jan. 27 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Gentle Memorial Building. Participants will create a piñata from beginning to finish. The class is $30 per person and registration is required. Register by Jan. 17.
Come learn some Spanish!
For children interested in learning Spanish, this is the class for them. The class will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Instructor Paula Dahlk has designed the program with the beginner in mind. They will be speaking some Spanish words when they leave the class. Each child will be provided with a book to take home to practice. Children between the ages of 6-12 years are invited to sign up. This class costs $8 per child. Registration is required by Jan. 20.
Children’s piñata making:
On Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 3:30-5 p.m. come make a Butterfly Piñata. Paula Dahlk of Mainely Piñata will be the instructor. This program will be held at the Houlton Recreation Center. Pre-K through grade 6 youth are invited to attend. Cost for the class is $20. Registration is required by Jan. 24.
Teen Night:
Make plans now to attend the Friday Teen Night on Jan. 24 at the Millar Civic Center. Youth in grades 7-10 are invited to an evening of skating, games and refreshments.
This free night will run from 7-9 p.m. and youth must register by calling the Houlton Recreation Department by Jan. 22. Join your friends at this fun night.
Indoor market:
The Houlton Recreation Department along with Vital Pathways will be sponsoring an Indoor Crafts/Farmers/Artisans Market on Saturday, Feb. 15. The market will be held at the Gentle Memorial Building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Spaces that are 10-feet by eight-feet are available and cost is $25 per space. There is limited space availability and registration and payment is due by Feb. 11. To receive a registration form, call the rec at 532-1310.
