LIMESTONE — There’s something new on the menu at Al-Bear’s: breakfast.
Owners Jamie and Michelle Albert have made changes to the restaurant here and there since purchasing the business 2009 — Wi-Fi, cable television, a selection of appetizers — but breakfast is the biggest change thus far.
They’ve been serving up the most important meal of the day since Dec. 1, and those who’ve stopped in for pancakes or a homemade donut to go have been enthusiastic about the new service.
Co-owner Michelle Albert said that the restaurant started the morning service after many repeated customer requests. Things are a little quiet and slow in the mornings as people are still finding out, but Al-Bear’s breakfast already has accrued a base of steady customers.
“They’re happy because they can come in and sit down, have a coffee and a breakfast sandwich, and chit-chat a bit before they head out,” Michelle said.
Not everyone has time for a sit-down breakfast, which is why everything — including pancakes — can be served up to go; customers in an extra hurry can even call orders in ahead of time.
To accommodate the expanded hours, Al-Bear’s has hired one new employee and she bakes up some fantastic goodies that pair excellently with a freshly brewed cup of coffee — one of the owner’s favorites are the cinnamon rolls.
Al-Bear’s is open for breakfast from 6 – 9 a.m., and is still open for lunch and dinner from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
