To the editor:
I was looking at the court news for Presque Isle. A public service announcement on television says “Drunk driving is drunk driving.” But here, if you’re in a certain circle, they drag you out of the ditch and call someone to take you home. Those who do make the court news are handled in a variety of ways. Some get big fines, some get no jail time and license suspensions vary.
Now I’m confused. Is drunk driving really drunk driving? It seems that those with fat wallets are not as drunk as the rest.
My point is that the law needs to be fair to all, not just the chosen — people with money in their wallet or of a specific gender.
