    NEW LIMERICK – Gerald Leo Callnan, 77, passed away Dec. 21, 2013, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 20, 1936, in Houlton, the son of Leo and Alice (McAtee) Callnan.
    Jerry was talented at many professions which included diner owner/cook, a chef to Tufts University, farmer, and a career with Aroostook Milling Company in Houlton. Upon retirement, he continued to farm and trade goods. He loved the outdoors, wildlife, and camping at Mount Katahdin and near the ocean.
    He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Audine (Bither) Callnan of New Limerick; and two sons, Christopher Callnan of North Port, FL, and Kevin Callnan, his wife, Kim and his grandsons, Tyler and Jason of Pownal; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Jack and Dottie.
    Friends called 10-11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. A mass of Christian burial was held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Dave Raymond officiating. Spring interment will be in the New Limerick Cemetery.
