LONDONDERRY, NH – Dana A. McQuarrie, Sr., 80, formerly of Londonderry, NH, died December 19, 2013, at the NH Veterans Home in Tilton, NH. Mr. McQuarrie was born in Houlton, ME on March 13, 1933, a son of the late Parker A. and Mina L. (Lewis) McQuarrie. Dana was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Lanes Construction Co. in Manchester, NH, where he worked for over 20 years. In addition, Dana had owned his own automotive transport company. He was a self-taught engineer and had a knack for building just about anything. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid musician, able to play many stringed instruments as well as the harmonica.
He is survived by three daughters, Kathy Roux of Manchester, Deborah Bergschneider of Concord, NH and Angela Boyle of Londonderry, three sons, Dana A. McQuarrie, Jr., and Bradley McQuarrie, both of Londonderry, and Jeffrey McQuarrie of Henniker, NH; ten grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Carr, of Connecticut; also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie McQuarrie, in 2006.
Calling hours were held on Monday, December 23, 2013, from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290, Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Funeral services followed at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held in the spring in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Litchfield, NH.
