James A. “Big Foot” Condon

    CONDON, James A. “Big Foot”, 64, COLUMBUS, GA & PRESQUE ISLE, ME, at Georgia, December 8, 2013. Arrangements are in the care of Cox Funeral Home, Hamilton.

    COLUMBUS, GA & PRESQUE ISLE, ME – James A. “Big Foot” Condon, 64, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Columbus Hospice, GA, after a long illness. James was born July 9, 1949, in Presque, Isle, ME, the son of the late Clayton Condon and Jean Condon.
    In 1986, he joined the Pine Mountain Police Department while also working with the Hamilton Police Department. James later joined the Harris County Sheriff’s Department. He later retired from the Harris County 911/ EMA as assistant director. James, known as “Big Foot”, was proud of his public service to the citizens of Harris County. In his law enforcement career, he was known as a person who was firm but fair. He always stood up for what he believed was right. James enjoyed riding his horse, Charlie, with his dog, Little Man by his side.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Condon; son, Jimmy Condon; and grandson, Joey Holder.
    He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy Condon of Columbus, GA; mother, Jean Condon of Uniontown, AL; three sons and their wives: Aaron (Kim) Condon of Fortson, Michael (Marchelle) Condon of Pine Mountain; Chris (Traci) Condon of Columbus; sister, Cindy (Curtis) Meisenheimer of Uniontown, AL; brother, Greg (Margo) Condon of Levant, ME; eight grandchildren: Trey (Jessica) Condon, Haley (Zachary) Moore, Eric Register, Waylon Condon, Maia Condon, MaKayla Condon, Jessi Meadows, Caroline Condon; and four great-grandchildren: Kenzli Condon, Payton Condon, T. J. Duke and Mason Duke.
    Memorial service were held 1 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Community Chapel, Pine Mountain Valley, GA, with Pastor Rick Lipp officiating. The family received friends after the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given in memory of James A. “Big Foot” Condon to the Community Chapel Memorial Fund or Columbus Hospice.
