    CROPLEY, Catherine Joan, 51, MARS HILL, December 14, 2013. Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home, Saturday, December 21, at 2 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan Funeral Home, Mars Hill.

     MARS HILL – Catherine Joan Cropley, 51, a loving mother and devoted wife, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at her home with family. She was born on Aug. 10. 1962, originally from Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Christopher and Helen (Hinman) Crinion.
    Cathy was employed at BurrellesLuce, Presque Isle, for 30 years, and worked part-time as a cashier at the IGA, Mars Hill. Cathy was known for her warm heart and compassion for others, as seen by over a decade of volunteer work with the Girl Scouts of America, and Alex’s Lemonade Stand to raise funds for childhood cancer. In her spare time, Cathy spent her life caring for her family, and as an avid animal lover, especially of cats.
    She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Richard Cropley; two daughters, Danielle and Jessica; parents-in-law, Milo and Ginger Cropley, Mars Hill; sister-in-law, Tracy Michaud and her husband, Dale, Presque Isle; sister-in-law Luanne Crinion, Brunswick; sister, Cindy Polacek, Joliet, IL; several nieces and nephews; and two cats, Ollie and Charlie. Cathy was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Christopher J. H. Crinion.
    Family and friends may call from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with Jamie McClay officiating. Gathering to follow at the home of Milo and Ginger Cropley, 21 ACI St., Mars Hill. Interment in the spring at Tapley Cemetary, Blaine.
