The Caribou boys used a stifling defense to pull out a 41-25 victory over Foxcroft Academy Saturday in Dover-Foxcroft.
Dayne Savage scored 20 points as the Vikings avenged their loss to the Ponies in last year’s quarterfinal round of the Eastern Maine Class B tournament.
Caribou is now 2-0 and has home games lined up against Fort Kent (tonight) and Old Town (Saturday).    The Viking girls also were 2-0 following last Tuesday’s 57-46 home win over Fort Kent, but were thoroughly beaten by Foxcroft Saturday as Ponies’ transfer Brianna Skolfield put together a brilliant individual effort with 36 points and 27 rebounds in the 74-44 thrashing.
Caribou held one of the league’s top scorers in Mackenzie Coiley to four points, but had no answer for Skolfield.
Bria Judd tossed in 20 points for the Vikings.
In last Tuesday’s victory, Caribou used a 23-point second quarter to turn around a six-point deficit at the end of the first and hold off the Warriors.
Judd notched 16 points, Delaney Williams totaled 14 points and Shyanne Barnes netted nine for the winners.
The Vikings’ next game is Saturday at home against Old Town.
