EAGLE LAKE, Maine — A local man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident on Main Street Friday night.    “On Dec. 6 at approximately 10:25 p.m., the Houlton Regional Communications Center received a report of a serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Convent Road and Main Street in Eagle Lake. Trooper Chuck Michaud responded to investigate,” said Sgt. Chad Fuller, of the Maine State Police.
Upon arrival, Trooper Michaud found 22-year-old Dylan Deprey, of Eagle Lake, was traveling north on Route 11 (Main Street) when he left the road and struck a tree.
“Deprey lost control of his 2005 Dodge four-door sedan, skidded across Convent Road, and then struck a large evergreen tree. The force of the crash was so severe, it uprooted the mature tree and snapped it in half,” said Fuller.
Fuller said Deprey was transported first by ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent, then later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment of serious injuries. Duprey was not wearing his seat belt.
“The investigation is ongoing; however speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash,” Fuller said.
Trooper Michaud was assisted at the crash by Trooper Jeff Clark, Warden Sgt. Jeff Spencer and a crew from the Eagle Lake Fire Department.
An official at EMMC indicated in a phone call Tuesday that Deprey was listed in fair condition.
