PERHAM, Maine — Officials at the town office are assisting a family following a fire at a Mouse Island Road home on Friday.    “The Washburn Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at the residence of George and Roberta Haley around 3:51 p.m. on Dec. 6. The family — George, Roberta, their two children and their dog — had gone out for a walk when a family member who lived nearby drove by and spotted smoke,” said Fire Chief Troy Heald, of the WFD.
Heald said upon arrival firefighters found the fire originated in the basement, along the floor joist. The fire marshal determined it was electrical in nature.
“The family was displaced but no injuries were reported and no lives were lost — humans or animals. The Haleys are being assisted by the Perham Town Office and the Perham Baptist Church,” said Heald.
The home was heavily damaged as a result of the fire. It was insured.
Anyone wishing to assist the family can do so by contact either the church, or by calling the Perham Town Office at 455-5887.
Caribou Fire & Ambulance provided mutual aid.
