PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Just in time for Christmas, the Presque Isle Historical Society is now taking orders for its 2014 collectible calendar, with the theme being “potato harvest.”

“The issue features monthly large black and white historic photos of potato harvest in our area. Calendars are $10 and are functional and make great gifts,” said Kim Smith, the organization’s secretary/treasurer.
The 2014 calendar has 14 large potato harvest photos and five small inserts.
Past calendar themes included: 2013 — Main Street, Then and Now; 2012 — Presque Isle’s Fires, Floods and Fiascos; 2011 — Presque Isle Army Air Base; 2010 — Places of Worship; and the inaugural calendar in 2009 — 150th Anniversary, Presque Isle History in Art.
“These calendars and the calendars of the future will have some historical theme. Example themes for future calendars are: Main Street, Bird’s Eye Views of Presque Isle, Agricultural History, Schools and more,” noted the website.
