Fans of Aroostook County high school basketball will be able to see more games this season. WHOU 100.1 FM Radio in Houlton is now in their third season of video streaming the games on their web site, www.whoufm.com and they have added a second stream of games which will cover northern Aroostook County.

Fred Grant, owner of Northern Maine Media, the home of WHOU radio, recently announced they have added a second video stream for the 2013-2014 season.
“The feedback from advertisers and fans of our streaming of games last year including the quarterfinals of the Eastern Maine Tournament has been overwhelming. People have asked if we could expand our coverage to include more games in central and northern Aroostook County and we’re happy to bring that coverage to fans,” stated Grant.
WHOU will be utilizing two teams of announcers and doubling last year’s coverage from 45 to 90 regular season games. Viewers will be able to visit the WHOU website and select the game of their choice as there will frequently be two streams being broadcast each evening.
WHOU 100.1 FM is Aroostook County’s longest continuous broadcaster of local high school basketball games, starting in the 1950s with Dewey DeWitt.     This season will mark the 16th season that Ken Holck has called the play by play on radio. He will be joined by Tim Tweedie, Rob Moran and Joe Cyr this year on a rotating basis. Games called by this crew will also be shown online as well on the southern Aroostook County stream.
The northern stream will mainly feature teams north of Mars Hill and will only be available on the web. The broadcast team includes Kevin Sjoberg, Bobby Russell and Steve Carmichael, among others.
The first broadcasts are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6  with Southern Aroostook at Central Aroostook girls and boys games beginning at 5:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, the first game in the north will be the John Bapst at Caribou girls and boys games, slated for 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. The Washington Academy at Houlton girls will be broadcast that same day on WHOU and streamed on its website beginning at 7 p.m.
