CARIBOU, Maine — Local students had a chance to hear some of the recollections of local veterans on Nov. 18, when eight members of the Lister-Knowlton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9389 came to talk to sixth-graders at Caribou Middle School. The veterans involved were Paul Barnes, Phil Caverhill, Frank Harris Jr., Alan Whittemore, Roger Felix, Peter Meisburger, Kevin St. Pierre and Ken Peters.
Students spent 45 minutes interviewing the veterans, and will take the results of their interviews and do a writing piece in their English/language arts class.
“The students enjoyed the time they spent with veterans and were delighted with the memorabilia that they brought with them,” according to teacher Cathy Bouchard.
Two of the gentlemen actually had a grandchild sitting at the table interviewing them, she said.
