The Presque Isle Middle School boys’ White soccer team completed the 2013 season with an 11-0 record, which included a 6-0 mark in the Aroostook League to earn the championship. The Aroostook League consists of the Presque Isle Blue and White teams, Houlton and Caribou.
Coach Jeff Hudson said his PIMS White squad was very focused from the start in wanting to win the league title.
“They worked hard every day and improved immensely as the season progressed. This team had a great attitude and overcame any obstacle in its path to win the title,” Hudson said. “They, along with PIMS Blue team, are set to keep Presque Isle soccer strong for many years to come.”
Offensively, the White team was led by Ryle Mortland, who tallied 16 goals on the season; Randon Mortland, with eight goals; and Alexis Quevado with six. Others who scored throughout the season included Drew Cameron, RJ Gross, Bailey York, Sam Beaulieu, Caleb Wheaton, Erick Tompkins, Rolen Mortland, Carter Rice and Jonah Hudson.
Defensively, the team was outstanding the entire season and held opponents to a total of 11 goals the entire year, including four shutouts. The defense was anchored by backs Jacob Sjoberg, Jack Beaulieu, Hudson, Gross and Tompkins. The goalie for the team was Jason Dumais.
Others who made key contributions included Riley Kinney, Garrett Morneault, Isaac Madore, Torey Levesque, Trace Cyr, Gage Young, Dylan Bonville and Chase Quirion. Isaac Adams was the team’s manager.
