The Ricker College Board of Trustees held its annual meeting on Oct. 25 in the Houlton Trust Building conference room, Market Square, Houlton.
Susan Nason, chairperson of the Board, presided over the meeting which began with a moment of silence to honor Bud Anderson, a long-time member of the Ricker Board of Trustees. Cheryl Putnam Dow was welcomed as the newest member of the Board, and Woodrow Dunphy, Bob Askren and Don Watson were reelected to serve for three more years.
Nomination committee Chair Woodrow Dunphy presented the slate of officers for 2013-2014; Chair of the Board Susan Nason, Vice-Chair Woodrow Dunphy, Treasurer Jay Clark, and Secretary Alison Bossie.
The slate was approved as presented. Gary Bossie will continue to serve as Executive Director.
Bossie reported that he will be sending checks amounting to $147,800 to various colleges early in January for the 96 county students who are currently receiving Ricker scholarships. The Ricker Scholarship is a four-year scholarship of $1,500 annually awarded to Aroostook County high school graduates. Since 1988, the Board has distributed well over $3 million to assist graduates from area high schools.
The Ricker College Board is a private, non-profit, charitable corporation that administers funds bequeathed to the Board for educational purposes.
The Board maintains its office in the Houlton Trust Building, 30 Market Square. It makes its contacts with prospective recipients through the guidance officers of local high schools. Other information and application forms are available online at www.ricker scholarship.com.
