WASHBURN – Hanford P. Duncan, 85, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Mars Hill Healthcare Facility. He was born on February 17, 1928, in Washburn, the son of Kenneth and Florence (Crouse) Duncan.
Hanford was a medical technician in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, he came home to help his father with the family farm. Later, he also worked for McCain’s Processing Plant in Washburn and Easton. He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Washburn. He served as Treasurer for over 53 years and also served as a Deacon, Trustee and Usher.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Pooler) Duncan. They were married for 63 wonderful years. He has two special daughters and their spouses, Janet and Donald Peary of Washburn, and Lori and James McKeen of Bangor; one grandson, Christopher Duncan Peary; a granddaughter, Lindsay Linton Neagle and her husband, Joshua all of Bangor; two adopted grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tyler Boyd of Washburn; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Duncan, Jr.; and sister, Catherine Ziegler.
A graveside service was held at 1 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2013, at Riverside extension cemetery in Washburn with Rev. Otto Palmer officiating.
