PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A pedestrian sustained minor injuries when she was struck by a pickup as she attempted to cross State Street on Oct. 2. The Presque Isle Police Department was notified of the accident around 5:41 p.m. near the intersection of Riverside Drive and the State Street Bridge.
Officers Kevin Reed and Brian McQuarrie, of the PIPD, responded.
“A 16-year-old female sustained minor abrasions and bruises to her legs when she was struck by a 2002 GMC pickup driven by Jessica Landry, 27, of Presque Isle. The pedestrian was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center by Crown Ambulance where she was treated for her injuries,” said Sgt. Mark Barnes, of the PIPD. The girl’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
The juvenile female, who’s name was not released, was crossing across the State Street Bridge, going from south to north, when she was struck by Landry’s vehicle. Landry had turned west out of Whitney Alley when the juvenile crossed and was struck, according to the police log.
Barnes said no charges are pending but that the pedestrian was at fault for crossing the street where there was no crosswalk.
Deputy Spencer Nadeau, of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, and a crew from the Presque Isle Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
