Lee DeCora Francis and Susan Drucker have joined to write a unique children’s book on the Native American craft of making baskets.

“Kunu’s Basket” is based on Maine’s Indian Island. The young man wants to makes his basket, quickly and perfectly the very first time. Remember how some things seem so easily done by a craftsman?  Ever learn how many tries it took that same craftsman to master the technique?
A good lesson from his grandpa (“Muhmum”) sets Kunu on the right path to success.
This book has dreamy, exquisite pictures and lively choice of words such as “plunked, doonk”. A nice approach for parent or child having difficulty with any new skill.
Another neat feature: this book was published by Tilbury House, Published in Gardiner, Maine. Although this is a relatively new book, there are ever so many new, and older books in the children’s library that are interesting, informative and just plain delightful. Check ‘em out.
