   DEMPSEY, Malcolm K., 90, RESQUE ISLE, October 13, 2013. Interment will follow at a later date in Florida. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

      PRESQUE ISLE – Malcolm K. Dempsey, a proud and loving husband and father passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at the Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center at the age of 90. Malcolm was born in Presque Isle on July 17, 1923, the son of Milford and Elizabeth (Cyr) Dempsey.
   American Flag Color After many years living in other places, he returned to Maine for his final days to spend with his longtime friend and current wife. He was proud of his Maine heritage and welcomed everyone with his bright smile, hand shake and famous saying “Keep Maine Green”.
    “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” – Psalm 91. An avid churchgoer, Malcolm believed in the miracles God would provide. He served through his dedication to the Catholic Church for many years as an Eucharistic minister and altar server. He attended mass daily, as his health permitted.
    “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give” – Churchill. Malcolm lived his life by a simple rule, make others happy. He was always quick with a joke, or a helping hand. Malcolm loved life and loved people and loved to tease. He was a true gentleman, always holding the door for lines of people. He loved all sports and was a decorated athlete. A well-known Class of ’42 Presque Isle High School cross country runner, Malcolm had recently been honored by the induction into the Presque Isle High School Hall of Fame. He would dance or play golf any chance he had. He also very proudly served his country in the Army as a World War II Veteran.
    While he will be missed by those left behind, Malcolm is beginning a new adventure forward…one he has prepared for and embraced.
    Malcolm is survived in life by his lovely wife, Wilma Cambridge Dempsey of Presque Isle; his three children and their spouses, Joe and Nancy Dempsey of Lyman, ME, Anne Dempsey and Kevin Kearns of Westford, MA, and Patrick and Bonny Dempsey of Washington, DC; his seven grandchildren, Chris Dempsey, Heidi Dempsey, Malcolm Kearns, Duncan Kearns, Danielle Miller, Megan Medina, and Samantha Dempsey; as well as his three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ayden and Genevieve.
    In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wives, Mary (Kidney) Dempsey and Alice LeMay; and his brother, Robert Dempsey.
    Friends and family called from 10-11 a.m., on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Duncan Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle, where a funeral service was held at 11 a.m. A reception followed services at the funeral home.
