Gonya named to TAMC post

    Gonya most recently worked for 21 years in the NMCC development and college relations office. She started in 1992 as a college relations assistant and was promoted to associate director of development and college relations. In that position, she served as the institutional leader and specialist in areas pertaining to marketing, college, public and media relations. During her tenure, she also twice served as interim director of development and college relations, each time for several months between directors.
    Prior to joining NMCC, Gonya served as marketing officer for the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council for two-and-a-half years. She started her professional career as assistant community relations/marketing director for Houlton Regional Hospital, a position she held for a year-and-a-half between 1988-89.
    “I am excited to once again be working in the health care field and to be a part of the TAMC team,” said Gonya.
    She is active in the local community. She currently serves as a director on the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce board and is a member of the Presque Isle Kiwanis Club. In the past, she has been active with Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development (LEAD), Girl Scouts, the Skating Club of Maine, Easton PTO, and Easton High School Project Graduation.
    Gonya is a graduate of Houlton High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. in 1989. Gonya has two daughters, Kaitlin and Jessica Bennett, who are both full-time students at NMCC.
