Central Aroostook Kennel Club event informative, fun

The Central Aroostook Kennel Club hosted a Sanction B Breed and All American Breed Match on Saturday, Aug. 10. Also offered were “Canine Good Citizenship” testing and a veterinary education booth with Dr. Andrea Pesut, D.V.M.
The term “match” refers to a conformation dog show that is intended for newcomers or those who want to practice dog handling skills without actually competing for championship points. Handling your dog is an exceptional and enjoyable experience. From the grooming table to the show ring, you and your dog will develop a bond. The Breed Match and the All American Match is a good experience for the first-time dog enthusiast to participate in, or to just come to watch and get a first-hand look at what the competitions consist of. The Junior Showmanship class offered youngsters 18 years and under the opportunity to develop their handling skills, learn good sportsmanship,and learn about dogs and dog shows.
In the Puppy category, Terry Dangerfield of Linneus with his German Shorthaired Pointer, Bay, won Best of Breed and Pam Fillion from Ludlow with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Waverly Bean Ants Vanderbuilt, won Best of Opposite Sex.
In the All American Match in  best female category, Irene Dafonte of Easton, with a mixed breed, Sweetie, was the first-place winner. Ann Dionne of Fort Fairfield, with her Pembroke Corgi, Trixie, was second. Pam Fillion of Ludlow, with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Sydney Rose, ended up third, and Robin Thurston of Washburn, and her Greyhound, May, took Fourth.
In the All American Match, first place for Best Male was Linda Harper of Houlton, with her Peekapoo, Buttons.
