LINCOLN, Maine — The Presque Isle Wildcats are heading to the team state championships in golf after shooting a 354 at the PVC Championships at JaTo Highlands Thursday.    PI had the low score among Class B teams, but was not recognized as the league champion after placing second to Houlton in the northern division during the regular season. Only division winners qualified for titles.
Hermon shot a 359 and is the Class B champ, while John Bapst was third with a 376.
All three teams earned a berth into the state tourney, to be held Oct. 12 at Natanis Golf Club in Vassalboro.
Leading the Wildcats Thursday was the trio of Liam Hughes, Michael Boone and Jenna Hallett.
Hughes shot an 84, the third lowest round of the day, while Boone came in with an 88 and Hallett an 89.
Hallett, who played from the white tees, still won the girls’ individual title for the second consecutive year.
All three qualified for the state individual tournament, to be held Oct. 19 at Natanis.
The low round of the day was turned in by Foxcroft Academy’s Colby Snell, who carded a 74.
