Mars Hill Rotary
The Mars Hill Rotary Club gathered on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Mike Brown. Mike spoke about the Quoggy Joe ski area, where he is in charge of lift maintenance.
Quoggy Joe was founded in 1932 and moved to its Fort Road location in 1957. Located adjacent to the Nordic Heritage Center, the two coordinate land use with their trails and slopes. Quoggy Joe has a daily ticket price of $8 or $20 with a ski rental. They are very thankful for the support of the local community and businesses for their donations that keep the ski area in operation.
Skiing is a lifestyle that families tend to do together and many friendships are made through a common interest in skiing. Ski areas also cooperate with each other to help the sport as a whole.
Mike also spoke of the importance of BigRock as it affects many central Aroostook and New Brunswick communities. BigRock is the highest ski slope in the area and is used by many ski teams for practices and meets. lo-marshill-cx4-sh-38
