Health Services Foundation holds iPad raffle

HOULTON — The chill has finally come to the morning hours, signaling the fact that it won’t be long before the cold is here to stay for awhile. It also means the Health Services Foundation is approaching the end of its fiscal year on Sept. 30.

“It has been a big year of celebrating our 30th anniversary,” said Elizabeth Dulin, executive director for the Foundation. “A new challenge in fundraising with a multi-equipment effort that had us searching for a few new ideas on how to go about having a successful year. One idea was generated by an extremely generous donation of two Apple iPads to the Foundation. Given it was our 30th anniversary we thought perhaps a $30 Gift Challenge might just be a winner for the Foundation and participants for those items.”

In addition to two Apple iPads, there are three $330 cash prizes to make it more interesting.
“Donor generosity covering the cost of the cash prizes is making this an exceptional fundraiser for us,” Dulin said. “Anyone donating $30 to the Foundation by noon on Monday, Sept. 30 will have his or her name entered into a database for a drawing to be held at 3 p.m. the same day. This will be the Foundation’s version of the big giveaway drawings we are all familiar with which are done by a computer selecting the winners.
The Foundation, through the continued generosity of those in the community and grant funding, has been able to purchase the majority of the nine pieces needed by Houlton Regional Hospital.
“We are hoping for a few more little and big miracles to finish up the year with what we need to purchase,” Dulin said.
Over the years, the Foundation has successfully raised almost $3 million to provide some of the best equipment, capital renovations, and education opportunities possible within its financial means, to Houlton Regional Hospital and other local healthcare providers.
“The commitment to support Houlton Regional’s request for the vitally needed medical equipment over several different departments, will greatly enhance the services these departments are able to provide as many items are at the end of their life expectancy or need upgrading due to rapid technology changes for those items,” she added. “We hope everyone will take a moment and consider how incredibly important our hospital is to this area and how important their contribution will be.”
