Editor’s note: The following article is a synopsis written by staff members and volunteers of the Cary Public Library highlighting one of the suggested reading books, as determined by their staff.
This week’s book is an inspirational fairy tale by Karen Kingsbury and illustrated by Gabrielle Grimand.

Quoting from the cover: “Sometimes a winner is not the fastest, the strongest, or the smartest, but the one who chooses to do what is right”.
“Brave Young Knight” begins with a scripture passage. As the leading knights from the east, west, north and south gather for the king’s competition to name the prince of the kingdom, our knight from the west does not have much confidence in himself. With wise words from his loving father, he continues to honestly and fairly try his best to run fast, carry heavy logs, and solve complex problems to find the treasure.
Well, well, one of them lived happily ever after. But you’ll have to read the story to learn how he did it.
Cary’s Children’s library section continues to grow with many non-fiction, fiction, inspirational, instructional, and informational new volumes.
The Cary Public Library is open Monday-Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call 532-1302.
