Seamstress business under new ownership

PRESQUE ISLE — Seamstress Terry Burtchell, who’s been sewing for the Presque Isle area since 1995, will be turning over ownership of the seamstress business to her daughter, Holly Burtchell, and Michael Balmer effective Sept. 30. The business will be located at the Aroostook Centre Mall at a larger location across from J.C. Penney.

“Mike and I are excited about the opportunity to service Terry’s customers. We are committed to continue the great services offered at The Seamstress and have some ideas on growing the business,” said Holly.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to work in the Presque Isle area and am confident that the business will expand to offer new services and grow jobs,” said Mike.
Terry expressed confidence in her daughter’s abilities to take the helm.
“Holly has been the manager of the shop since 2011 and is committed to continuing the same service and also expanding some lines of business. She has grown to become a professional seamstress and has altered all of the wedding and prom gowns this past season,” said Terry. “Holly and Mike are proficient in operating the quilting machine, and Mike is learning how to service sewing machines.”
“I am very confident that they will do an exceptional job for Presque Isle and surrounding communities,” said Terry.
