On Friday, Sept. 6, the sixth grade class from Washburn District Elementary School left for a day at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute.
They left from the school at 7 a.m., aboard a Cyr Bus, to participate in a two-and-a-half-hour educational program called Complex Systems. The students experienced an introductory presentation about the Gulf of Maine and then rotated through four 20-minute activities at Lab Venture! stations. The stations are interactive kiosks where students were able to do hands-on experiments and scientific investigation.
