Cornerstone golf tourney
The seventh annual Cornerstone Christian Academy Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 14 at Presque Isle Country Club.
Registration is at 7:30 a.m. and the shotgun start is at 8:30 a.m. The event is a three-person best-ball scramble and the entry fee is $120 for a team. Individuals may sign up for $40 and placed on a team.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams for both gross and net. There will also be longest drive, closest to pin and putting contests and great prizes for the first hole-in-one.

CMS boys blanked in pair of contests
The Caribou Middle School boys’ soccer team lost a pair of tough 1-0 decisions last week.
The Vikes fell to Fort Kent Aug. 31, and then were beaten by Presque Isle Blue Sept. 5.
Coach Steve Perreault said Caribou was led by Cullin Caverhill, Alex Bouchard, Parker Deprey, Spencer McDuffie, Noah Frost, Nick Allen, Nic Sleeper and Alex Ezzy in the loss to FK. In the game against PI, Kyle Boucher, Alex Hyde, Tiernan Barbosa, Ezra Judd and Frost were the standouts.
Officiating classes
IAABO Board 150, representing Aroostook County, will offer classes for prospective basketball officials beginning Sept. 30 at Presque Isle High School.
The meeting time for the Monday classes is 7-9 p.m. and the cost is $40. For more information, contact Harry Orser at 425-4451.
Limestone rec travel soccer
The Limestone Recreation Department’s travel soccer schedule for grades 5-6 has been announced.
Practices began this week and will continue Tuesdays and Thursdays through Oct. 10.
Round robin tournaments take place Saturdays and are scheduled for Sept. 21 at Ashland, Sept. 28 at Caribou and Oct. 5 at Madawaska, with the County tourney to be held in Presque Isle Oct. 12. For more information, call 325-4791.
UMPI hosting 5K race
The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host the Alumni and All-Comers 5K Cross Country Race on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to test their speed and skill to see if they can still dash. The race is open to anyone, but minors will need a signature from a parent or guardian.
Registration takes place at the Park Family Field on the UMPI campus beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the start line. There is no entry fee, but donations to the Owl cross country and track and field programs will be accepted.
