Dead River Company dresses down for a good cause

If you walk into a Dead River Company office any Wednesday in September, don’t be confused. It’s not “casual Friday.” It’s “Blue Jeans Wednesday.”
From Sept. 4 through Sept. 25, Dead River Company will support “Hunger Awareness Month” in all 54 of its Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts service areas giving their employees an opportunity to donate a dollar to wear blue jeans to work each Wednesday during the month. The money donated by employees will be matched dollar for dollar by Dead River Company. In Maine, the donations will be distributed to the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

This is one of many ways Dead River Company helps to support the fight against hunger. Earlier this year, the company was awarded Good Shepherd Food-Bank’s Joanne Pike Humanitarian of the Year. “This is a company-wide effort,” said Bob Moore, president and CEO of Dead River Company.  “We made a commitment to help people in the communities we serve, and our employees have embraced it completely—donating food and their time at local food banks. We thought an annual ‘Blue Jeans Wednesdays’ would be a great way for us to sustain our support and allow our employees to be further involved.”
