Event raises more than $23,000 for NMCC Foundation
FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Northern Maine Community College students will be the beneficiaries of more than $23,000 in scholarship funds raised through the TD Bank Golf Tournament to benefit the NMCC Foundation, which was held Aug. 8 at Aroostook Valley Country Club. This marks the tournament’s most successful year to date.
Just over 100 golfers teed off for the annual scramble. A dinner and silent auction followed the tourney. This year’s auction featured a number of gift certificates from local businesses, some special items such as autographed sports memorabilia, a hot-air balloon ride and tickets to a Boston Bruins game. The auction raised about $5,000.
“TD Bank is extremely pleased with our continuing collaboration with the NMCC Foundation. Our annual golf tournament provides a wonderful opportunity to get together for a day of fun with our customers, employees, tournament sponsors, NMCC staff and Foundation donors to raise much-needed funds for the Foundation,” said Michael J. Kelley, regional vice president of TD Bank. “Our sponsors and supporters have been exceptionally generous over the years.”
This is the eighth year TD Bank has partnered with the NMCC Foundation to host a golf tournament to raise scholarship funds for students attending the college.
TD Bank’s partnership with the Foundation has resulted in more than $123,000 raised in support of student scholarships over the past eight years, according to Vicki Smith, NMCC Foundation chairperson.
Overall tournament champions and winners of the TD Bank Cup, with the first place low gross, was the three-person team made up of Barry Richardson, Bobby Russell and Bob Bruce with a score of 61.
