Friends of Bigrock
announce matching donations
MARS HILL — With only days left to reach their goal of $30,000 on the www.gofundme.com/save-BigrockMountain website, the Friends of Bigrock was thrilled to find out that two groups have stepped up with matching donations totaling $7,500.
Thompson-Hamel, LLC, of Presque Isle, pledged $2,500, and an anonymous donor committed $5,000 to match dollar for dollar, up to the next $7,500 on the group’s website.
“The generosity of the people in the area continues to amaze us,” said Bill Getman, general manager of Bigrock Mountain. “Having Thompson-Hamel and the other group step up the way they did, will allow us to surpass our goal in the next few days.”
“Bigrock is a tremendous regional asset and it is our pleasure to assist in creating a sustainable community-based model that will provide opportunities to our region for years to come,” said Brian Hamel, managing partner of Thompson-Hamel, LLC.
To date, the Friends of Bigrock has received commitments for over $80,000 toward their total goal of $150,000.
“Every day we find ourselves a little closer to reaching our fund-raising goal and developing a model that we think will keep Bigrock open for years to come,” Getman said. “The thoughtfulness of these matching donations will have a huge impact on our fundraising. Our fundraising continues to go well, and we are thankful to those who have already donated.”
