PI golfers take FK in season opener
The Presque Isle Wildcats played their opening match at home Monday, beating Fort Kent by 43 strokes.
Michael Boone of the Wildcats was the medalist with a 38 as PI carded 167 strokes as a team. Other PI scores were: Karson Eaton, 48; Josh Gordon, 44; Jenna Hallett, 41; Carter Lapointe, 46; Liam Hughes, 43; Hunter Flynn, 45; and Gannon Therrien, 65.
Bryce Carter was the Warriors’ top golfer on the afternoon with a 49. Fort Kent totaled 201 strokes in the match.
Cedric Gendreau was the lone Madawaska golfer competing and he shot a 46.
Also on Monday, Central Aroostook squared off against a short-handed Limestone-MSSM team at Mars Hill Country Club. The Panthers took 9 of the 11 match points, with the Eagles’ only two scored by Megan Flanagin, who was the medalist with a 36.
Chandler Brewer shot a 42 for CA, while Alex Folsom came in with a 46. Kenny Bell (51), Megan King (68) and Cory Richardson (69) were the other Panther golfers competing.
Nic Chouinard had a 66 for Limestone-MSSM.
CA also hosted Ashland last Wednesday and won 11-0 in match play and 205-281 in medal play.
Kenny Bell shot a 43, Folsom had a 45 and Brewer a 50 to pace the Panthers.
Cody Blair notched a 55 as Ashland’s low golfer. Teammate Gabby Cyr carded a 64 in the match.
At Limestone Country Club Thursday, the Hornets and Hodgdon Hawks were the visiting teams.
Ashland had a team total of 295 strokes, with Blair leading the way with a 58 and Cyr a 58. Alex Gillis and Wyatt Carr also competed.
