EASTON — Led by head coach Rachel Tomlinson and assistant coach Travis Carter, the Bear girls’ soccer team doesn’t have a set group of starters for the entire season, but that doesn’t mean they’re lacking any leadership.

At midfield will be seniors Mariah Cyr and Cassandra Buck along with junior Nichole Dudley and sophomore Emma Bonner. The attacking front line will feature the combination of juniors Kylee Carter and Taylor Brown. Defensively, the Bears will be led by juniors Alex Allen, Kristen West, Ashley Hersey and freshman Elise Allen. Junior Hannah Ferris will be starting goalie with sophomore Blake Bradley serving as backup.
Key bench players to start the season will be senior Stephanie Hammond, juniors Kelsey Frank, Kerrigan Arnett, Madison Leach, Madison Shaw, sophomores Macey Currier and Blake Bradley and freshmen Abbey Currier and Sarah Gilman.
Tomlinson has a bright outlook for the season, saying that the passion the girls show for soccer has helped motivate them to work on their game in practice as well as on their own throughout the summer.
“We pass well and run the field well,” she said, “But now have to focus on communication and overall knowledge of the game.”
The strategy for the Bears this season is to improve each day on the field and to develop into well-rounded athletes as well as soccer players.
Tomlinson also said that the team must step up to fill the roles of the three seniors the squad lost last season, but noted that with the commitment her team shows, “that shouldn’t be too difficult to accomplish.”
