This location is the 7th oldest Machias Savings Bank branch, first opening itsdoors July of 1992. Over the past 21 years, these employees have been a presence in the community through volunteerism, sponsoring events and supporting local organizations. The Houlton branch, along with our other thirteen branches, understands that banking does not always have set hours. Machias Savings Bank is known for opening early, staying late and making house calls; these are just a few examples on how we deliver our exceptional customer service.
When opening our doors in 1869, a vision was set that Machias Savings Bank would embrace an employee culture and establish community roots that would continuously set us apart from all other financial institutions. As we enter the third quarter of 2013, we are proud to say that not only have we carried on this vision, we continue to exceed it.
At Machias Savings Bank, we know that all banks are not the same. The super-regionals and other large financial institutions have already begun leaving rural Maine and concentrating their efforts in the major metropolitan areas. We intend to take advantage of this trend by increasing our presence and service in rural Maine; all while staying true to our Down East roots.
In July, it was announced Machias Savings Bank will purchase six branches of The Bank of Maine in northern Maine. We are excited about all the opportunities this expansion means. It opens new doors for growth, accessibility as well as support and involvement to communities and organizations in these new market areas.
