Class of ’54 awards scholarship
FORT FAIRFIELD — Austin Bernier received a $1,400 scholarship from the Fort Fairfield High School Class of ’54 at graduation ceremonies earlier this summer. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bernier of Fort Fairfield.
Bernier plans to pursue engineering at the University of Southern Maine this fall. He was a four-year honor student and salutatorian of his class. He was active in basketball, baseball and soccer, school and community activities. Frederick McGillan, a member of the Fort Fairfield High School’s class of ’54, presented the scholarship.
This annual renewable scholarship, first awarded in 2004, provides for a minimum award of $1,000 for four consecutive years. Actual awards have exceeded the minimum each year since 2007.
