Minou is a 3-year-old torti female with up-to-date medical maintenance, now living at the Halfway Home Pet Rescue Adoption Center after her owner had to retire to a nursing home. Minou is a very clean, loving lap cat with six months of grieving behind her and she is ready now for a new beginning. “She hopes her new owner will also speak French, as that is her favorite language and she responds to French words with great affection,” said HHPR President Norma Milton. “She is not a fighter and will get along with other cats, although if they are aggressive to her, she will be afraid.” While she’s great with other cats, Minou is not accustomed to children. Her adoption fee is only $25. HHPR volunteers will hold a Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 24 and Saturday, Aug. 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 11 Pioneer Ave. “HHPR has cared for over 100 very ill and severely injured cats and in the last few months and we need to raise enough funds to pay off our vet bill and resupply our medical supplies,” Milton explained. “If you have very nicely used items to donate, please drop them off at 11 Pioneer.” Shelter volunteers are hoping to collect more used shoes, used ink cartridges, and returnable bottles on the Yard Sale days. The HHPR Adoption Center is located at 489 Main St., and adoption hours are from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoons or by special appointment by calling Mary at 999-1075.
