Marlene York passed away in San José, CA, on July 29, 2013. She was born in Houlton on April 15, 1937, the daughter of Rena Gerow York and Charles T. York.
Marlene was a 1955 graduate of Houlton High School and moved to Seattle, WA, later settling in San José with her sister, Barbara. Marlene trained to work in the nursing field and was on the staff of the San Jose Hospital until her retirement.
She is survived by a daughter, Tamara Owens; grandson, Jason Owens; granddaughter, Dayna Owens; and great-grandson, Damon. She is also survived by her brother, Robert York of Houlton; sisters, Barbara York of San José, Delores Jackins and husband, Eugene, of Houlton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of Maine. Marlene was predeceased by her parents and a younger brother, Austin York.
A memorial service was held with many friends and coworkers attending. Interment will be in Houlton’s Evergreen Cemetery.
