FS-SAVE-dcx-pt-31SUMMER CONFERENCE — Southern Aroostook Vocational Educators Association President Robert “Bo” Zabierek, right, joined the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Caucus at the National Education Association Representative Assembly. With Zabierek are, Dennis Walters, CTE caucus pesident and Donna Harris-Aikens.

“It was definitely an eye-opening experience for me, to see people from all across America fighting to keep schools safe and education rigorous and relevant to our students’ needs,” reported Zabierek. “It was difficult to locate the different opportunities, at first, but I got settled in to a routine of caucusing with the CTE Instructors before the daily Representative Assembly and during lunch breaks at the Assembly.
The last CTE Caucus meeting featured the NEA’s Director for Education Policy and Practice (EPP) Center for Great Public Schools, Donna Harris-Aikens, who oversees CTE for the NEA along with EPP Senior Policy Analyst Alexis Holmes in Washington, D.C.”
While in Atlanta, Zabierek had the privilege to be chosen from the Maine delegation to attend the prestigious white tie Civil and Human Rights Awards Dinner, held at the Thomas Murphy Grand Ballroom in Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center; the site for the National Representative Assembly.
Zabierek was elected an at-large delegate in a statewide election for the two-year seat on the National Assembly; he will attend the National Assembly in Denver next July and will continue to work with the CTE Caucus throughout the year to help bring CTE issues to the forefront of Education, both locally and nationally.
