HOULTON — A 20-year-old Oakfield man and 17-year-old Island Falls juvenile were charged with stealing all-terrain vehicles from the lot of Houlton Power Sports on the North Road.
According to Houlton Police Chief Butch Asselin, London MacKenzie and the juvenile, who was not named, were charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer for stealing three ATVs sometime during the early morning hours of July 18.
Video surveillance footage showed two men near the front of the store shortly after midnight on July 15. Still images from that footage were posted on Facebook. Information obtained from the Internet posting aided police in locating the subjects.
The Maine State Police later recovered the ATVs.
Officer Eric Sucy investigated the incident. Troopers Carmen Lilly and James Ferland of the Maine State Police and Sgt. Charles Wampler and Det. Kristin Calaman of the Houlton Police Department assisted.
