LAUREN WILLIAMSON’S artwork will be featured at Wintergreen Arts Center on Aug. 2.
“Lauren’s work is edgy and cool. Her work will be on display in the Barresi Art Gallery, with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 2,” said Wendy Gilman-Zubrick, the center’s executive director.
Williamson said she gained her love of art while still in school.
“I started painting and drawing my junior year in high school and fell in love with acrylic and pencil. I love portraying people. I find all the features extremely beautiful and interesting,” she said.
She said using different textures gives her work depth.
“Acrylic with glaze allows me to layer and give the perception of depth, which is perfect for painting skin,” said Williamson, noting she also enjoys working with other mediums. “Pencil is my go-to medium when I want to go back to the basics and let the person’s face speak for itself.”
Williamson said she plans to further her education, with plans to attend college in the spring.
“I plan on attending art school in Boston this spring. I currently live in Portland and work at Starbucks. I love the art community there,” said Williamson.
