Summer is in full swing and the roads are being graded for the month of July. Drivers will soon find new pavement at the Mill Brook Bridge allowing for better drainage off of the bridge and no more 10 potholes in a row! This is a capital improvement project and qualifies for LRAP funds available to the Town from the State of Maine.
The selectmen adopted a couple of new Policies at the July 10 meeting. One is a policy to go out to bid on all work before the annual Town Meeting (and to hold pre-bid meetings to allow for all contractors to be informed of all details of work to be bid on). The successful bid would be awarded pending approval of the funding at the town meeting. Another policy adopted is to have the annual tax bills sent out by Aug. 1 at the latest. And a policy to have all town employee evaluations completed by March 1 annually was adopted.
An agenda policy was adopted at the June meeting for selectmen’s meetings. All policies are on file in the Town Office.
Through the Maine Municipal Association insurance plan a volunteer insurance policy was accepted by the selectmen at $2.50 per person. This covers planning board members and anyone who does volunteer work for the town.
The planning board is meeting and still needs two associate members to join their team. They have several projects taking their attention such as updating a few existing ordinances and studying new ordinance possibilities. The board membership is Chairman Terry Beals, secretary Chanan Bond, Jackie Castaldo, Therese Lussier and Dana Miller. Please contact the town office if interested in joining this team.
