NHC to host event Aug. 2-4
PRESQUE ISLE — The Nordic Trail Festival, a celebration of community, trails and lifestyle, will be held at the Nordic Heritage Center Aug. 2-4.
Hosted by the Nordic Heritage Sport Club, the event includes live music, games, contests, food and racing. The festival is open
to all ages and ability levels and spectators are welcome.
Registration takes place from 3-8 p.m. Aug. 2, with the festival opener party taking place at the Quoggy Jo Lodge from 6-9 p.m. The “short” track world championships are scheduled for 7 p.m.
On Aug. 3, registration for the six- and 12-hour races is held from 7-8 a.m. The races get under way at 9 a.m. The youth mountain race is held at 11 a.m. and the trail running race for youth is at noon.
A farmers market includes goods and food from a variety of local vendors and will be set up from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Festival games and activities are slated for noon-4 p.m., including face painting and tattoos, inflatables, kids’ bike decorating, a terrain park for bikers, a wheelie contest and a hike through the Enchanted Forest. The biathlon range is open from 12:30-3 p.m. Live music at the lodge is from 4-10 p.m. and a sponsor recognition dinner is from 5-7:30 p.m.
On Aug. 4, biathlon and downhill registration begins at 7 a.m. The 12-hour race awards will be presented at 8:30 a.m. The MTB and trial run biathlon begins at 10 a.m. and the downhill mountain bike race is at 11:30 a.m. A barbecue will be held at noon and downhill and biathlon awards are at 1:30 and conclude the festival.
