SHREWSBURY – Susan Jane (Bohan) Wood passed away peacefully after a long illness Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the Lutheran Healthcare Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was born in Houlton, Maine, on April 3, 1945, the daughter of James and Kathleen McGuire Bohan, formerly of Houlton and later Holly Hill, Florida.
Susan was a graduate of Houlton High School after which she moved to Florida and attended Mary Karl Vocational School in Daytona Beach, Florida. She worked for Florida Power and Light until she moved to Boston, then employed by New England Electric where she met her loving husband, Andrew Wood. She and Andy were married May 30, 1971. She continued her education and was a graduate of Quinsigamond Community College. They were longtime residents of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
After their son William Lyle arrived, Susan became a full time wife and mother. William became the center of their world. Susan and Andy enjoyed their life together with many trips to Vogler’s Cove in Nova Scotia, Florida and Maine, especially Susan with her sisters in Maine and Florida. Susan was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister and aunt. She was a very special person.
Susan was predeceased by her husband, Andrew, in 2012; also two sisters, Joan Davenport and Mary Barbara Ray. She is survived by her son, William Lyle and wife, Tracey, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts; sisters, Nancy Diefendorf of Solon, Maine, Elizabeth Brescia of Newport, Maine, Debra Gold of Edgewater, Florida; brothers, James Bohan and Brian Bohan, both of Port Orange, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Susan will also be missed by a special family friend and loving caregiver, Angie Williams.
Family services will be at a later date in Maine. Friends who wish to contribute in Susan’s memory may do so through the Alzheimer Foundation, American Cancer Society, St. Mary’s Church in Houlton, Maine, or Houlton High School Alumni Association. Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury is assisting the Wood family with arrangements.
