Fraser Timber LLC, located in Masardis, has been accepted into the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).
SHARP Program Manager Steven Greeley credited efforts by company officials and employees for making a safe work environment.
“Your company and all the employees have worked very hard to ensure a safe and healthful work environment. Being approved into SHARP is a major accomplishment that everyone should be extremely proud to have earned,” wrote Greeley in a June 12 letter to Roger Gagnon, safety coordinator for Fraser Timber LLC.
Greeley said Fraser’s crew served as an example to others of how teamwork pays.
“Speaking for my staff, we were very honored to have assisted and been able to recommend Fraser Timber LLC in Masardis for SHARP. The company and employees are a role model for other industries in the state,” noted Greeley. “Remember, safety is no accident.”
Greeley indicated a ceremony would take place at a later date, at which time Fraser staff would be presented the SHARP award.
Gagnon also received a letter dated May 31 acknowledging Fraser’s safety record at the now-closed Ashland mill.
“I am pleased to provide you with the formal SHARP plaque recognizing the approval of participation of Fraser Timber LLC in the SHARP program,” noted Marthe B. Kent, regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Kent said the recognition “represents your successful participation in a comprehensive on-site consultation survey, correction of all hazards identified during this review and the operation of an effective safety and health program.”
Since the mill in Ashland is no longer open, Kent said it will be “removed from OSHA’s general schedule inspection list for the period from June 3, 2013 through June 2, 2015.”
“Congratulations for taking the initiative to work with an OSHA-sponsored consultant and for your interest in occupational safety and health,” said Kent.
