Seniors tee it up for two tourneys

    WOODSTOCK, New Brunswick — Ninety nine players competed in the Upper St. John Valley Senior Golf Association’s second tournament of the summer, held at Woodstock Golf Club June 26.

    The top-three golfers for gross and net in the six divisions of play were as follows:
    A Division gross: first, Gary Greene, Covered Bridge, 71; second, Warren Walker, VaJoWa, 72; and third, Neil Girdwood, Covered Bridge, 74.
    A Division net: Bob English, Woodstock, 65; second, Yvon Levesque, Edmunston, 66; and third, Mike Cote, Portage, 69.
    B Division gross: first, Ray Mersereau, Mars Hill, 74; second, Mark Anderson, Houlton, 78; and third, Norm Collins, Caribou, 78.
    B Division net: first, Ron Kearney, Covered Bridge, 66; second, Peter Curley, Covered Bridge, 67; and third, Wilson Patterson, Covered Bridge, 69.
    C Division gross: first, Andrew Choisnet, Edmunston, 78; second, Dale Plourde, Caribou, 78; and third, Marc Michaud, Fort Kent, 83.

First tourney held at AVCC
    FORT FAIRFIELD — One hundred and forty seven players competed in the Upper St. John Valley Senior Golf Association’s first tournament of the summer, held at Aroostook Valley Country Club June 12.
    A major highlight of the tournament was generated by Dana Crory of Mars Hill, who recorded a hole-in-one on the eighth hole.
    The top-three golfers for gross and net in the six divisions of play were as follows:
    A Division gross: first, Jud Giberson, Covered Bridge, 75; second, Neil Girdwood, Covered Bridge, 76; and third, Dave MacFarlane, Edmunston, 77.
    A Division net: Bob Bruce, Aroostook Valley, 68; second, Gill Picard, Grand Falls, 69; and third, Mike McLauchlin, Grand Falls, 74.
    B Division gross: first, Himie Towle, Aroostook Valley, 82; second, Tom Davidson, Aroostook Valley, 83; and third, Bruce Fitzpatrick, Caribou, 85.
