Shop & Save, Sleepers lead divisions

    Caribou Little League standings as of June 22: National League: Shop & Save (8-3), S.W. Collins (7-3), Bank of Maine (6-4), Eagles (5-4), VFW (2-8) and Police (0-11). American League: Sleepers (10-1), Northstars  (9-1), Key Bank (5-5), Knights of Columbus (2-8) and Tigers (2-8).

    Game summaries from last week:

Shop & Save 16, VFW 0

    Tristan Mancos of Shop & Save came within one pitch of a perfect game, missing just high with his 85th pitch on a 3-2 count to walk Abby St. Peter of VFW with two outs in the sixth inning. Sawyer Deprey got the final out to preserve the no-hitter.
    Mancos finished with 12 strikeouts. At the plate, nine Shop & Save players hit safely, with Parker Deprey getting a triple and Ethan Holdsworth, Evan Burgay, Carter Conley and Sawyer Deprey hitting doubles.
    For VFW, Josh Cummings pitched the first four innings, followed by Brandyn Matheson and Matt Smith.

Northstars 25, Eagles 3

    Austin Findlen struck out 10 batters while allowing only one hit, and went 5 for 5 from the plate to lead the Northstars to a 23-3 victory over the Eagles. Findlen slammed out two in-the-park homeruns, two triples and a single while scoring five runs for the Northstars of Stockholm.
    Alex Bouchard scored four runs on a double and two singles. Kennith Thompson hit three singles and Walker Clark hit a double and two singles. Carter Quist hit a single and a double. Riley Bouchard, Josh Quist and Noah Hixon each singled for the Northstars.
    For the Eagles, Caleb Trombley hit a double and Trombley, Dominic Crouch, Monica McGlaughlin and Dylan Dodd combined to strike out 10 Northstar batters.

Sleepers 4, Key Bank 2

    Sleepers and Key Bank hooked up in a well-played, fast-paced game with Sleepers coming out on top by a 4-2 margin. Sleepers was led by the pitching performance of Camden Huck and clutch hits by Jacob Ouellette, Hayden Hunter and Jay Belanger. Ouellette and Hunter each scored two runs for Sleepers. Nine-year old Keenen McDougall had his first Little League hit driving one through the middle of the infield.  Hunter came on in relief of Huck and got the final out on a comebacker to the mound.
    Key Bank got base hits from Jacob Soucy, Cullin Caverhill and Logan Lusardi, with Caverhill and Lusardi accounting for both of the team’s runs. Brandon Masse pitched well in the loss.

Shop & Save 20, Knights of Columbus 12

    Shop & Save had 17 hits to outscore Knights of Columbus by the score of 20-12. Alex Ezzy, with four hits, and Parker Deprey with three hits led the way. Evan Burgay, Carter Conley, Sawyer Deprey and Keegan Dickinson each had two hits, and Ethan Holdsworth and Tristan Mancos both had a double. 
    On the mound for Shop & Save, Alex Ezzy went the first three innings to get the win, followed by Ethan Holdsworth, who pitched one-plus innings, and Evan Burgay, who finished up. For Knights of Columbus, Gabe Rand led the way at the plate with a single and double and two RBI. Marcus Daigle added an RBI single and Connor Charette had a single.
    Pitching for KC were Ryan Austin, Daigle and Aidan Plante.

Northstars 16, VFW 4

    The Northstars jumped out to a 9-0 lead on their way to a 16-4 victory over VFW. Austin Findlen tripled and singled twice while Kennith Thompson slammed out three singles to lead the Northstar attack. Josh Quist doubled and singled while Noah Hixon had two singles and Carter Quist had one single.
    On the mound, Josh Quist, Thompson, Riley Bouchard and Alex Bouchard combined to get 13 strikeouts in the victory. For VFW, Brandyn Matheson had two hits, Alex Tauer had a double and Darren Hall and Tharen Hand had singles.
    Pitchers for VFW were Hall, Kameryn Matheson, Joshua Jackson and Matt Smith, who combined for nine strikeouts.

Eagles 12, Knights of Columbus 4

    Pitchers Ghent Durepos, Scott Bray and Dominick Crouch combined to get 14 strikeouts to lead the Eagles to a 12-4 victory over Knights of Columbus.
    At the plate, Crouch had two doubles and a single, Bray had an inside-the-park home run and a single, and Caleb Trombley had an over-the-fence home run and a single to lead the charge. Wyatt Taggett had two doubles. Amber Moir had a triple and Hollie McDougal hit a single to round out the hitting for the Eagles.
    For KC, Connor Charette had two singles, Marcus Daigle had a single, Gabe Rand had a double, and Colby Bonville had a single. 
Sleepers 22, Bank of Maine 16
    In a game that required seven innings over two days of play, Sleepers plated six runs in the top of the seventh inning and then held off Bank of Maine to pull off a 22-16 win. Sleepers was led by Camden Huck who hit for the cycle with a home run, triple, double and single. Jake Ouellette also had four hits and scored five times. Hayden Hunter had two hits and scored four runs, Jay Belanger tripled and Brandon Jalbert and Logan Cheplic both singled for Sleepers.   
    Bank of Maine’s Karlee Willett hit the ball well, going 2 for 3 with two walks and scoring twice. Seth Roy hit a triple and Brevin Barnes doubled for the Bankers. Sebastian Marquis added two base hits to aid Bank of Maine’s cause. Brennan Poitras, Marquis and Benoit Levesque did the pitching. Devin White and Ouellette were strong in relief for Sleepers, with Ouellette picking up the win.
