DRUGS, GUNS and various other items were seized at a Castle Hill home of Keith Jordan and Daveena Waugh on June 20. The couple are facing multiple charges in connection with the incident.

“Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, June 19, sheriff’s deputies went to 2880 State Rd. in Castle Hill looking for a female at the request of Caribou police. Deputies knocked on the door and spoke with Keith Jordan, who lives there. During their conversation with Jordan, the deputies smelled the strong odor of marijuana. When Jordan was told the deputies were going to seek a search warrant, Jordan became angry and attempted to retreat into the home,” said Sheriff James Madore.
Madore said a brief scuffle ensued before Jordan was secured in handcuffs.
“The residence was secured and MDEA agents responded to assist,” he said.
Law enforcement officers sought and obtained a search warrant, which was used to access the property the following morning.
“Early Thursday morning, a search warrant was signed and the property was subsequently searched. Deputies and agents seized an Uzi 9 millimeter machine pistol, an AK 47 assault rifle, a shotgun, a .22 rifle and a 30-30 hunting rifle. A silencer and loaded magazine for the Uzi were also found,” said Madore.
Officers also found several drugs onsite.
“Over a pound of processed marijuana, 53 grams of hashish, 53 marijuana plants, digital scales and drug ledgers were also seized,” said the sheriff.
Madore said Jordan has a lengthy Maine criminal record, which includes convictions for assault and forgery in 1996, as well as drug possession and criminal threatening in 1997.
“Because of a prior felony conviction, Jordan is prohibited under state and federal law from possessing firearms,” said Madore.
Jordan was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton, charged with prohibited possession of a firearm, a Class C charge; trafficking in marijuana, a Class B; refusing to submit to arrest or detention, a Class D; and obstructing government administration and disorderly conduct, Class D crimes. His bail was set at $7,000 cash or $70,000 surety. He was released on bail.
Jodan’s girlfriend, 31-year-old Daveena Waugh, was also arrested and is charged with trafficking in marijuana, a Class C offense. Her bail was set at $5,000 unsecured. She was released on bail.
“Several children were at the home at the time and DHHS Child Protective Services were contacted to address that issue,” said Madore.
If convicted, Jordan faces up to 10 years in prison.
“I applaud the initiative taken by the deputies and the thorough follow-through by all involved. Taking firearms away from a convicted felon with a history of violence is always in the best interest of public safety,” said Madore.
The case is being turned over to the Aroostook County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
