Flag football tourney scheduled Sunday
The Aroostook Huskies Football Club is holding a co-ed flag football tournament Sunday, June 23 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at Sincock Field in Caribou.
The registration fee for the double-elimination tourney is $150 per team, which may consist of a roster of up to 12 players. Four males and four females must be on the field at all times.
Every player will receive a commemorative T-shirt and the winning team will receive a trophy.
The first eight teams to register will be accepted. USA Football flag football rules will apply. Concessions will be available at the field.
All proceeds will benefit the Huskies’ football program.

WSI course offered at Presque Isle pool
The Presque Isle Indoor Pool will offer a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course June 25-28, which will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. all four days. Participants must be at least 16 years old and a proficient swimmer. This course will help participants teach children and adults to swim and give water safety presentations to kids and parents.

SAD 1 to offer soccer camp for grades 3-9 in July
The SAD 1 soccer coaching staff is offering “Wildcat Soccer Camp” July 22-26.
The camp, held on the turf field at the Presque Isle Middle School, is open to experienced and inexperienced players and serves as a great opportunity to tune up for the high school, middle school or recreation seasons.
The staff includes varsity boys’ coach Joe Greaves and varsity girls’ coach Ralph Michaud, along with their assistant coaches, sub-varsity coaches and current and former players.
Girls and boys entering grades 3-6 will play in the first session from 3-5 p.m. and those entering grades 6-9 will attend the second session which runs from 5-7 p.m. Sixth-graders may choose either session, but it is recommended they choose the one based on their ability level.
The cost is $45 per student, with discounts provided to families with two or more participants.

Softball all-stars to play Thursday
The Maine Softball Coaches Association recently announced their 2013 all-star teams.
The East/West Games will be played on Thursday June 20 at Cony High School in Augusta. The C/D game will be played at 4 p.m. and the A/B game at 7 p.m.
Local players making the A/B East team were Lauren Ackerson and Liza Buck, both of Presque Isle.
Members of the C/D East team are Kayla Cote of Ashland; Paige Garrison, Page Fletcher and Michaela King, all of Central Aroostook; and Rayah Saucier of Washburn.
Much like the McDonald’s all-star teams for basketball, the coach has to be a member of the association for their players to be considered for the all-star teams.
PI doubles team places 2nd in league
The Aroostook League held its middle school tennis championships May 31 at Caribou High School.
The hosts swept all four titles as Josiah Krul defeated teammate Noah Heidorn, 8-7, in boys’ singles and Gabrielle Marquis prevailed by the same score over teammate Conner Spencer in the girls’ title match.
In boys’ doubles, the Caribou duo of Gabe Rand and Emerson Duplissie-Cyr bested Presque Isle’s Andre Daigle and Jordan Bonville in the finals, 8-2.
The girls’ doubles championship saw Danielle Hanson and Ashley Matlock of Caribou defeat Ciara Richards and Hailey Holmquist, also of Caribou, 8-2.
