HOULTON – Joseph E. Robinson, 91, died June 4, 2013, at a local healthcare facility. He was born August 18, 1921, at Houlton, the son of Emmons and Edith (Colson) Robinson.
Joe attended schools in Houlton, Bangor and Massachusetts. He served in the US Navy during World War II and had three years service in the Pacific Theater from Guadalcanal to Okinawa. Joe owned and operated several businesses, the last being Robinson’s Musical Instrument Company with his dad, Emmons W. Robinson. He taught privately and taught school bands in Hodgdon for many years. Joe also served on the town council for two terms, belonged to the Houlton Masonic Lodge and was past President of the Lions Club. He was an avid fisherman, loved his canoe trips on the rivers and streams and loved gardening. He also loved camping from when his children were small to when he and his wife spent many beautiful summers in Bar Harbor.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, E. Lorraine (Kimball) Robinson of Houlton; his daughter, Marcia Homchuck and her husband, Paul, of Haynesville; granddaughter, Melanie and her husband, Eric, of VA; great-grandson Brett of VA. He was predeceased by his parents and his son, Bruce.
